BruSurrey @ The Inaugural London & South Societies Forum Dialogue

London- The BruSurrey Society sent the largest delegation to the Inaugural London & South Societies Forum and Dialogue at Brunei Hall in London yesterday (28/01/12) going through a series of open-floor dialogue and round table sessions with other delegations from London & South Societies as well as with host Brunei Student Union officials.

The opening ceremony was included a speech by Ck. Hjh Azizan Binti D.P. Hj Othman that outlined her hope in each of our societies to advance in not just social and sporting events but also in academic events and that we will remain steadfast in our resolution to maintain Bruneian values in each of our societies.

Following that was the open-floor dialogue that has given our society some valuable information, the possibility of collaboration with other societies especially for newer and smaller societies such as ours and ultimately fresh new ideas that has been brought up to advance our society forward. Round table meetings held after the open-floor dialogue session gave further insight and opportunities to discuss with other societies as well as to write up our action plans. The President of the Brunei Students Union mentioned that it is important for us to realize the ambitions of our nations leaders by providing a platform within our society to develop our members to be Brunei's future leaders.

He also mentioned that it is important for us a society to have our own niche among the other societies if we want to have more influence such as other successful Bruneian societies. As of now, we as a society have identified certain areas that have been identified as our possible niche and have action plans ready to be implemented as soon as the rest of the society members are ready for it. This writer believes that it is really possible four our young inexperienced society to be as successful if not more, but only if we are sincere and willing to contribute.
